B.J. Handal, Chief Executive Officer

With more than 27 years of senior level experience marketing, importing and sourcing footwear and apparel, Mr. Handal has a deep understanding of the barriers to successful trade created by the distance and information fragmentation endemic to international commerce. He has worked with several key industry leaders in retail and wholesale areas and their supply-side partners to provide a practical application of Internet technology to the very difficult task of managing the information needs of a global business. Mr. Handal also worked with the executive director of the footwear industry's major trade organization to develop an Internet presence for dual-use: publishing key industry data in a protected environment while also providing public pages for general industry information. Mr. Handal offers this unique insight into international trade, supply chain requirements and the needs of both retail and wholesale companies to bring the first online letters of credit to the market.

Janet Handal, President

Combining her expertise in Internet banking and commercialization with money-center bank operations and financial services entrepreneurial initiatives, Ms. Handal provides the banking and Internet knowledge to help ec-Finance’s bank payment partners smoothly adapt and integrate the ECF system. She was formerly the vice president and director of strategic alliances at FundsXpress, an Internet banking and financial services company. She previously served as the Chair of President Clinton’s White House Task Force on Information Technology. Her consulting to the Defense Advanced Projects Research Agency (DARPA) for White House pilot projects also included work to formulate and provide solutions for the commercialization of the Internet. She has co-founded two other technology companies and was previously financial staff to the executive management team at Chemical Bank in New York.

Scott Behnke, Chief Technology Director

Mr. Behnke is the president of Behnke and Associates founded in 1999 and headquartered in McLean, Va. Before joining ec-Finance.com, Mr. Behnke served as a strategic and tactical technical architecture consultant for the U.S. government, as well as academic and commercial organizations. His experience includes working for the National Science Foundation and DARPA during the transition of the Internet to a commercial architecture. Behnke and Associates specializes in distributed application development and protocol, data and workflow gateways. In addition, the company manages the development of commercial products using Java, XML and procedural languages.
